Rexnord Aerospace
Rexnord Aerospace decided to replace their aging facility by building a new, state-of-the-art 248,000 square foot office and manufacturing facility. The Rexnord Aerospace Center of Excellence is a show place for their industry-leading innovation, product manufacturing, and service excellence. The focus of this project was on creating an efficient and unified work environment that connected the corporate office space, manufacturing facility, and large workplace café to accommodate office staff, multiple shift manufacturing groups, and company-wide meetings.
Creative conducted a comprehensive space use analysis through interviews and surveys, engaging all employees. An evaluation of the company’s work processes and organizational flow was vetted. A final space plan was developed and implemented within the two-story foot print for the corporate office space.
The front lobby showcases a comfortable seating area featuring a tall, stacked walnut TV monitor surround, which directs the eye up to a custom suspended ceiling element. The stacked walnut surround appears to cut through the second story wall and continues into a training room that looks down onto the lobby. A customer zone directly adjacent to the lobby offers dedicated space for client gatherings, training sessions, product showcasing ,and an organized tour route for clients from all over the world.
The primary planning methodology was “core planning” which places private offices in the center of the office footprint, allowing natural light to filter throughout the open office space. Collaboration spaces were furnished to support team interaction away from heads down work spaces.
A contrasting palette of black, gray and white combined with polished metals and warm wood tones create a crisp, polished and sophisticated facility with a twist of “grit and classic vintage.” Rexnord blue was subtly infused within the interior color palette, with furniture finishes selected to complement this color. Workstations and private offices feature height-adjustable work surfaces allowing for individual control and flexible work styles.
